Commissions
Commissions
HListed here is my current price list for pet portrait commissions. Pricing is based on portraits in colored pencil with a white background and one subject.
Prices are in €.
Consider whether you’d want a classic rectangular portrait, or a square portrait.
Please keep in mind that the sizes are in centimeters, the inches listed below are approximately. Let me know if you’d like your portrait in inches.
Two subjects
If you want a portrait featuring two pets, add €40 per subject. Only available with the bigger sizes.
Mounts
With the following sizes it’s possible to receive your drawing mounted in a mount (including the back): A5, 25×25 cm & A4
Note: when adding a mount, the drawing itself will be smaller.
Reference photo’s
Secondly, you will go and look for one or more reference photo’s.
When choosing a reference photo for a drawing, there are several important aspects to consider to achieve the best result. Here are some key points to keep in mind:
Photo quality: Ensure that the photo is of good quality, with clear details and a high resolution. This helps me to accurately capture all the details and nuances in the drawing.
Lighting: Pay attention to the lighting of the photo. Photos with balanced lighting provide clear shadows and highlights, aiding in understanding the shapes and volumes of the subject.
Details & sharpness: Pay attention to the details and sharpness of the subject in the photo. The sharper and more detailed the photo, the easier it is for me to accurately depict the details in the drawing.
Perspective: Take note of the perspective of the picture. Choose a photo where the perspective matches what you want to achieve in the portrait, most of the time it is a photo from the front.
Keeping these aspects in mind when choosing a reference photo can help you lay a solid foundation for a successful drawing. Don’t worry if your photo doesn’t exactly meet all of these requirements. I also understand that not all pets are with us anymore and it is therefore not possible to take more photos. In that case, we work with what we have. Are you unsure or would you like advice on which photo would be best? Please feel free to contact me.

Securing your booking
To secure your booking, I will send an invoice for a non-refundable deposit of €25. Once the payment has been made, the commission is booked in for you and you will then be placed on the waiting list.
At the top of my website is listed for which month I’m taking commissions. Based on this, you can see how long my waiting list is on that moment (most of the times I’m booked up 2-3 months in advance). When the commission is a present or you have a special date in mind, I recommend you book as early as possible to avoid disappointment and please contact me in advance to see what’s possible.
Contact me via this form or send me an email (art@fencilstudio.com) to get started on your portrait.
Process
While drawing, I will keep you up to date with progress photos or videos. That way you can see how the drawing is turning out. I only complete the drawing once you are 100% satisfied. And only after that, you pay the remaining amount by invoice.
The time I need to make a drawing depends on the size and complexity of the drawing. It can be 2 weeks, or if I’m more busy, it can take 2 months. Once I get started on the drawing I can give a better estimate.
Shipping
International shipping available!
For shipping the portrait, shipping it ‘flat’ is my preference. This way the drawing will arrive the neatest.
The drawing will be neatly packaged, protected with tissue paper and if it’s a4 size or smaller, it will be placed in a box that fits in a letterbox. All portraits will be sent tracked. This way it’s possible to track your package.
For A4 sized drawings (or smaller) you’ll have the option to receive it in a gift box, tied with a black satin ribbon.
