Commissions
Below you can see my current price lists for commissioned drawings. Prices vary by medium and size. Read below about the different mediums and materials so that you can make a good choice about what kind of portrait you want. Consider carefully whether you would like a standard, rectangular drawing, or whether you would prefer a square portrait. Custom sizes are available upon request.
Graphite
The prices on the right are for drawings in graphite, with a white background
and one subject (pet).
A detailed black and white drawing, made with high quality graphite pencils.

Graphite drawings are drawings made with graphite, a material often used in pencils. Graphite is a form of carbon and offers a wide range of
gray tones, from light grays to deep blacks, depending on the hardness and pressure with which you draw.
Colored pencil
The prices on the right are for drawings in colored pencil, with a white background and one subject (pet).
Using high-quality colored pencils, I create a realistic portrait of your pet with many details.

Colored pencil drawings are made with pencils that have a core of pigment and wax or oil. I use both. Depending on the pressure and layering, different shades and effects can be achieved.
Pastel
The prices on the right are for drawings in pastel and one subject (pet).
You can choose from 5 colours of paper. The paper is soft and feels like a kind of fabric and gives beautiful results.
Remember well; a pastel drawing requires good care. For example, you have to frame the drawing with a mount, so that the drawing does not touch the glass.
I also offer doing this for you (see the prices on the right)

Pastel drawings are made with chalk-like sticks or pencils that contain soft pigment and have a rich, powdery texture.
Be careful! Pastel is prone to smudging. It gives slightly less detail, and slightly more softness.
Pastel paper
For a pastel drawing you can choose from 5 colors of suede cardboard (1.7 mm).
This is very sturdy, soft and gives beautiful results. It is very different from ‘normal’ paper because of the soft surface and the texture.

Framing a pastel drawing
A pastel drawing needs to be framed and in a special way.
If desired, I can frame the drawing with a mount in a simple frame. This is a frame with a narrow frame of only 11 mm. The frame is made of oak and has a natural color with an untreated finish. The frame is fitted with acrylic glass, which has the advantage of being both lightweight and unbreakable.
Please note! I am not a professional framer. The frames
I work with are simple, and it is possible that dust spots remain in the frame. Of course, I do my best to prevent this.
Extra
Two subjects in one drawing
If you would like a drawing with two pets on it. Add €40. This is only possible with the larger sizes.
Backgrounds
The prices mentioned are for drawings without a background. If you want a drawing with a simple, blurred background or a specific, detailed background, you can contact me so we can look at the price.

Reference photo’s
Secondly, you will go and look for one or more reference photo’s.
When choosing a reference photo for a drawing, there are several important aspects to consider to achieve the best result. Here are some key points to keep in mind:
Photo quality: Ensure that the photo is of good quality, with clear details and a high resolution. This helps me to accurately capture all the details and nuances in the drawing.
Lighting: Pay attention to the lighting of the photo. Photos with balanced lighting provide clear shadows and highlights, aiding in understanding the shapes and volumes of the subject.
Details & sharpness: Pay attention to the details and sharpness of the subject in the photo. The sharper and more detailed the photo, the easier it is for me to accurately depict the details in the drawing.
Perspective: Take note of the perspective of the picture. Choose a photo where the perspective matches what you want to achieve in the portrait, most of the time it is a photo from the front.
Keeping these aspects in mind when choosing a reference photo can help you lay a solid foundation for a successful drawing. Don’t worry if your photo doesn’t exactly meet all of these requirements. I also understand that not all pets are with us anymore and it is therefore not possible to take more photos. In that case, we work with what we have. Are you unsure or would you like advice on which photo would be best? Please feel free to contact me.

Securing your booking
To secure your booking, I will send an invoice for a non-refundable deposit of €25. Once the payment has been made, the commission is booked in for you and you will then be placed on the waiting list.
At the top of my website is listed for which month I’m taking commissions. Based on this, you can see how long my waiting list is on that moment (most of the times I’m booked up 2-3 months in advance). When the commission is a present or you have a special date in mind, I recommend you book as early as possible to avoid disappointment and please contact me in advance to see what’s possible.
Contact me via this form or send me an email (art@fencilstudio.com) to get started on your portrait.

Process
While drawing, I will keep you up to date with progress photos or videos. That way you can see how the drawing is turning out. I only complete the drawing once you are 100% satisfied. And only after that, you pay the remaining amount by invoice.
The time I need to make a drawing depends on the size and complexity of the drawing. It can be 2 weeks, or if I’m more busy, it can take 2 months. Once I get started on the drawing I can give a better estimate.
Shipping
International shipping available!
For shipping the portrait, shipping it ‘flat’ is my preference. This way the drawing will arrive the neatest.
The drawing will be neatly packaged, protected with tissue paper and if it’s a4 size or smaller, it will be placed in a box that fits in a letterbox. All portraits will be sent tracked. This way it’s possible to track your package.
For A4 sized drawings (or smaller) you’ll have the option to receive it in a gift box, tied with a black satin ribbon.
