Tutorials

For me, drawing is much more than just putting lines on paper—it's a way to observe, understand, and translate what I see. In my tutorials, I take you step by step through that process. Whether you're just starting to draw or have been doing it for a while, my goal is to show you how a drawing is created and teach you how to create a lifelike drawing.

Each tutorial is carefully crafted so you can not only copy but truly understand what you're doing. You'll learn to observe shapes, light, shadow, and depth, and discover how small adjustments and tools can make a big difference in your work.

With each tutorial, I include three key components: the reference photo , the line drawing , and a materials list . This way, you can follow exactly what steps I take and what materials I use. Think of these tutorials as a peek over my shoulder—an invitation to draw along, experiment, and develop your own style.

In this blog post I'm going to show you how to purchase a tutorial, how the tutorials work, and what's included in the document.

How to buy a tutorial

My tutorials are available as a digital product through my webshop.

If you like one or more tutorials, add them to your shopping cart. You can then checkout as you would with any other online store. If you only buy a tutorial, you won't have to pay shipping costs. It's a digital product, so nothing will be shipped to your home.

After purchasing, you can click the download button directly. Don't worry if you accidentally click it away or want to download the document at a later time. You'll always receive an email with the download link to the PDF document you'll need to follow the tutorial.

What's in the PDF document?

The PDF document is clearly structured and contains:

  • A brief introduction
  • A materials list with the exact names, brands and color numbers.
  • The subject's reference photo + a download link
  • The line drawing (so you can trace it)
  • Clickable links to the corresponding videos (per part)

How do the video links work?

The links in the PDF are directly clickable. For each section, there's an underlined link labeled "click here." Clicking on it takes you to the corresponding video (a hidden video on YouTube). This allows you to follow the steps at your own pace—pause, rewind, and practice whenever it suits you.

What can be seen in the videos?

In the videos, I take you through the drawing process from start to finish. Everything is filmed, nothing is sped up, and only the "still moments" are edited out. As I work, I try to explain what I'm doing and why I'm doing it at important points.

If you follow my tutorials often, you might find I repeat things quite often. But this is purely for learning purposes.

Construction

After you've created your own sketch (this isn't covered in the videos), we'll work in layers: we'll start with the highlights and base layers, then gradually darken the darker areas to create contrast and depth. Finally, we'll add the details with both colored pencils and the slice tool. And that last tool is crucial, as I use it in every drawing. You can read more about it in this blog post: Slice tool

Want to get started right away?

After payment, you'll receive the link to the PDF file directly in your inbox, so you can get started right away. There's no shipping time, no waiting — just digital, fast, and easy.
